Private obstetrics and gynaecology consultation fees 2026: first and follow-up fees compared at 7 Hong Kong hospitals and medical centres
At the private hospitals and medical centres this site checked, a first or single consultation in obstetrics and gynaecology was published at about HK$600 to HK$3,000 (including fee caps and caps for consultations extended for the patient's condition), varying with hospital, doctor's grade and consultation length; medicines are usually extra. From 1 January 2026, Eligible Persons pay HK$250 per attendance at public gynaecology specialist clinics; the median wait for stable new cases in Hospital Authority Gynaecology from October 2025 to September 2026 was about 4 to 12 months by cluster.
How much do hospitals charge for obstetrics and gynaecology consultations?
The table lists the obstetrics and gynaecology outpatient consultation fees published on the websites of some private hospitals and medical centres this site checked, not all institutions in Hong Kong. For clinics other than private hospitals, ask the clinic directly about fees.
Compiled by this site: of the 7 institutions, 4 list a follow-up fee, 2 do not distinguish between first and follow-up visits, and 1 lists only the first consultation in its fee schedule. The highest fee published in the table is HK$3,000, the cap for the Professor grade at CUHK Medical Centre.
How this list was put together: an institution is listed when it publishes this fee on its own website and this site has checked the figures against that fee schedule. The rows are in a fixed order, not in order of price; this site does not recommend any institution, the order says nothing about quality, and the list is not every institution in Hong Kong.

What are public outpatient fees and waiting times?
From 1 January 2026, Eligible Persons pay HK$250 per attendance at Hospital Authority specialist outpatient clinics and HK$20 per drug item (charged in units of 4 weeks), with some pathology tests and non-emergency radiology examinations charged separately.
Booking requires a referral letter issued within the past three months by a locally registered doctor, and cases wait according to their classification as urgent, semi-urgent or stable.
From October 2025 to September 2026, the median waiting time for stable new cases in Hospital Authority Gynaecology was 18 to 54 weeks by cluster (about 4 to 12 months). The Hospital Authority publishes figures under ‘Gynaecology’ and does not list obstetrics separately.
For figures by cluster, see Gynaecology public waiting times.
Common misunderstandings
‘The fee published online is the total cost of one visit’: not so. The published fee is generally only the doctor's consultation fee; medicines are generally charged separately, tests, investigations and minor procedures are charged by item, and some hospitals charge a facility fee.
‘The fees for the same specialty at the same hospital are all the same’: not necessarily. Some hospitals list different fees by doctor grade, resident or visiting doctor, and consultation session.
What should I ask before booking?
How much are the first consultation and the follow-up? What grade is the doctor?
Does the fee include medicines? How are medicines charged, and for how many days' supply?
What tests might be needed this time, and about how much do they cost?
Is there a facility fee or any other charge? Are evening or holiday consultations more expensive?
Does the hospital accept my medical insurance, can it bill the insurer directly, and is a referral letter needed?
