Private cardiologist fees 2026: first and follow-up consultation fees compared at 9 Hong Kong hospitals and medical centres

At the private hospitals and medical centres checked by Book a Doctor, the published fee for a first cardiology consultation or per consultation is about HK$650 to HK$3,000 (including fee caps and caps for consultations extended for the patient's condition), depending on the hospital, doctor's grade and consultation length; medicines are generally extra. The waiting times the Hospital Authority regularly publishes do not list cardiology separately; for reference, from October 2025 to September 2026 the median for stable new cases in its Medicine specialty was about 6 to 14 months by cluster.

How much are cardiology consultation fees at each hospital?

The table below lists the cardiology outpatient consultation fees published on the websites of some of the private hospitals and medical centres checked by this site, not every institution in Hong Kong. For clinics other than private hospitals, ask the clinic directly about fees.

Compiled by this site: of the 9 institutions, 4 list a follow-up fee (1 of them with the same fee for first and follow-up visits), 4 do not distinguish first and follow-up fees, and 1 fee schedule lists only the first consultation. The highest fee published in the table is HK$3,000, which is the cap for professor grade at CUHK Medical Centre and the cap for a first consultation extended because of the patient's condition at Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital.

How this list was put together: an institution is listed when it publishes this fee on its own website and this site has checked the figures against that fee schedule. The rows are in a fixed order, not in order of price; this site does not recommend any institution, the order says nothing about quality, and the list is not every institution in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong dollars. ‘Up to’ is the cap on office-hours fees stated by the institution. Confirm fees with the institution; sources and dates are at the foot of the page.

For the specialties compared and what a quoted fee includes, see private specialist fees overview.

What are public clinic fees and waiting times?

From 1 January 2026, Eligible Persons pay HK$250 per attendance at Hospital Authority specialist outpatient clinics and HK$20 per prescribed drug item (charged in units of 4 weeks), with some laboratory tests and non-emergency radiology examinations charged separately.

To book you need a referral letter issued within the past three months by a locally registered doctor, and cases are classified as urgent, semi-urgent or stable and wait accordingly.

The eight specialties the Hospital Authority regularly publishes do not list cardiology separately (cardiology is a specialty under the Hong Kong College of Physicians). For reference, from October 2025 to September 2026 the median waiting time for stable new cases in the Hospital Authority's Medicine specialty ranged from 28 to 61 weeks by cluster (about 6 to 14 months).

For Medicine figures by cluster (for reference), see public cardiology waiting time (Medicine figures for reference).

Common misunderstandings

‘The fee published online is the total cost of one visit’: not so. The published fee is generally only the doctor's consultation fee; medicines are generally charged separately, laboratory tests, investigations and minor procedures are charged by item, and some hospitals charge a facility fee as well.

‘The fees for the same specialty at the same hospital are all the same’: not necessarily. Some hospitals list different fees by the doctor's grade, resident or visiting doctor, and consultation session.

What should I ask before booking?

How much are the first and follow-up consultations? What is the doctor's grade?

Does the consultation fee include medicines? How are medicines charged, and for how many days?

What tests might I need this time, and roughly how much will they cost?

Is there a facility fee or any other charge? Is it more expensive in the evening or on holidays?

Does the doctor accept my medical insurance, can they bill the insurer directly, and do I need a referral letter?
