How much do private hospitals charge per day for a room?
The table below lists the daily room charges published on the websites of 13 Hong Kong private hospitals checked by this site, not all hospitals in Hong Kong.
Compiled by this site: standard rooms (multi-bed rooms) cost about HK$600 to HK$2,020 per day and private rooms about HK$2,100 to HK$8,000; rooms of the same class may be priced further by location or facilities.
How this list was put together: an institution is listed when it publishes this fee on its own website and this site has checked the figures against that fee schedule. The rows are in a fixed order, not in order of price; this site does not recommend any institution, the order says nothing about quality, and the list is not every institution in Hong Kong.

What else do I pay besides the room charge?
The room charge is only part of the cost of a hospital stay; doctors' fees, operations, medicines and laboratory tests are charged by item. The higher the room class, the higher the charge for some hospitals' tests and operations too; for example most hospitals list imaging examination prices by room class (see MRI fees).
A deposit is generally payable on admission; for example Precious Blood Hospital (Caritas) states a deposit of HK$10,000 for a standard room and HK$30,000 for a private room (Hong Kong residents, hospital's own doctors), and an accompanying-person bed fee of HK$230 to HK$380.
How much does a hospital stay cost at a public hospital?
From 1 January 2026, Eligible Persons pay HK$300 per day for a Hospital Authority acute bed.
What should I ask before admission?
In which room classes does my doctor charge? Do doctor's fees and test fees differ by room class?
How much is the deposit? How is the bill settled on discharge?
Which room class does my medical insurance cover? Can the hospital bill the insurer directly?
For how to pay with medical insurance, see Using medical insurance for a private specialist; for fees for tests and procedures, see Gastroscopy, Colonoscopy and Heart tests.
For each hospital's consultation, test and package fees, see Private hospital fees; for surgical packages and bill statistics, see for example gallstone surgery fees.
